This ministry proclaims the Word of God to the community at Mass. The impact of God's message is dependent on their conviction, preparation and delivery. The ministry requires persons of humility and those whose lifestyle gives faithful testimony to the Word. Their main responsibility is to mediate the presence of Christ in the assembly. Prospective lectors should have some knowledge of Scripture, a willingness to devote time to preparation for assigned readings, and normal oratorical skills.
