Seniors of Sacred Heart
I am Karla Buscigilo, a RN. I am a Faith Community Nurse active at Sacred Heart since 2013. Father Sal (our pastor at that time) and I thought seniors needed a places to socialize, learn of health information and have assistance that is available. So we created Seniors of Sacred Heart (SASH). We have met on most Thursdays mornings since begun. We have also gone on Field trips and other social activities. I have organised 3 classes on the use of Automated External Defiberlator (AED) located in the back of the Church as well as being responsible for up keep o the AED. We now have. We now have approximately 30 people trained.
I maintain a bulletin board in the hall titled "Faith Community Nurse". This board is changed monthly and has health subjects, community resources as well as spiritual subjects. I also assist parishioners in accessing community resources, health resources, and social resources. My Husband, Joe and I have taken Communion to the Health Center and ALF at Westminister Manor fo several years every other week, we have also arranged Masses at the manor for about 4 years.
